Education

Colby Sawyer College Major: Bachelor of Fine Arts Minor: Education GPA: 3.5 University of New Hampshire Major: Master of Art in Teaching (K-12 Art) Minor: Studio Art GPA: 3.9 I transferred to Colby-Sawyer College from Lesley University in Cambridge. While at Lesley, my major was English Education where I took classes such as Sophomore Literature, Creative Writing, Scriptwriting, and Studying Shakespeare. After taking a painting class in my second semester, I decided that I wanted to teach art, although my prowess and love for English, writing, and creative writing has not diminished. At Colby-Sawyer I excelled in all of my art classes, such as Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Sculpture, Ceramics, Photography, and Digital Media (Photoshop and Illustrator). After completing my Bachelor's Degree at CSC, I enrolled at UNH to complete a Master’s of Art in Teaching K-12 Studio Art. I wanted to be able to immediately complete my Master’s in order to have more opportunities teaching, as many schools prefer Master Degrees over Bachelor’s. I took the required classes, but I attained invaluable experience in a year-long internship where I spent half of the school year in a high school and half of the school year in an elementary school. While I am highly competent working with all age groups, I absolutely love working with older age groups and being able to challenge them while teaching them new techniques and ways to express themselves in an artistic way.

Experience

I tutored college-aged students for 3 years at CSC’s Academic Development Center. I tutored Essay Writing, Creative Writing, Sociology, Psychology, Art History, and Earth Science. In high school, I took AP Literature and AP Studio Art, with scores of 5 and 3, respectively. My Cumulative SAT Score after leaving high school were 1800 and I only took the test one time. (Subsequent tests are known to increase test scores). Relevant College Classwork: Painting I-V (I-IV required for concentration); Drawing I-III; Ceramics I and II, Art History; Intro to Sculpture; Intro to Design; Printmaking; Photography Freshman Essay Writing, Sophomore Literature and Composition, Communications, Creative Writing, Play Production: Shakespeare ‘s Works, Scriptwriting, Multimedia Production, Media Criticism Earth Science, Quantitative Reasoning, Study Abroad (Mexico) Teaching, Learning, and Social Responsibility; Teaching Methods; Multiple Education Internships; Lifespan Development; Psychology; Logic and Critical Thinking; Human Development and Learning; Teaching Secondary Art Education, Teaching Elementary Art Education, Educating Exceptional Learners. Hobbies

One of my favorite things to do is learn! That's why I wanted to become a teacher. There are so many things I am interested in, so let me tell you about the main ones. Aside from my main hobbies of art, reading, and writing, I am fascinated and love science and, in particular, outer space. Subsequently, one of my favorite genres of entertainment is Science Fiction/Fantasy! I have spent many nights at planetariums and looking through telescopes to see the wonders that outer space has for us, and I've spent a lot of time on my own learning about space. In my free time after a long day at work, I also play video games and board games with my family and friends--especially ones that involve a lot of brainpower and working together, like puzzles or co-operative games. I enjoy cooking in the winter and swimming in the summer!
