Experience
I recently retired from a 35 year educational career that included being a classroom teacher for 25 year and a principal for 10. I have taught social studies including sociology, psychology, geography, world and European history and especially US History including AP. I am currently the lead AP teacher in a start up online school called One World that we hope will come online in the next 6 months. In addition to teaching I have also been an AP reader for US History and my scoring on the tests were among the best meaning that I can provide a very good idea of what your DBQ and Free Response answers will score. My experience as a lead AP teacher allows me to work with a student across the entire range of AP Social Studies exams. While I have never taught IB, I am familiar with the curriculum and can work with students on IB social studies related topics. I am very proficient in teaching writing for college and my students have gone on to a wide variety of schools from UNH and Keene State to Dartmouth and Tufts. They report that they could easily write at the collegiate level. I can provide examples of my students' work. In addition to curricular areas, I am able to work with students and families in the college search and admissions process from middle school trough graduation in all areas from the courses to take in high school, writing the essay, interview skills, FAFSA (for the parents) as well as financial aid.
