Homeschooled 2nd-12th Grade -- I independently pursued my studies from 4th grade on. -- In 8th grade, I began selecting and designing my own curriculum. -- As a high schooler, I also coordinated and supervised the education of my 3 younger siblings. B.A. in German from Concordia College at Moorhead -- I also studied French and Mandarin. -- I was a leader of the Tri-College Swing Club -- I had a young girl I tutored in German for 4 years. M.A. in German from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln -- I completed various translation jobs. -- I was a German Teaching Assistant and instructed German 101 or 102 to groups of 20+ students each semester.
Experience
I enjoy tutoring because then I can cater to my individual student's abilities, interests, learning style, and personality. I am very patient and my students feel very comfortable learning with me. I take great pride in designing individualized lessons and am known for my enthusiasm and engagement. I began teaching piano lessons at age 18 and tutoring German at age 20. Over the past decade, I have also taught dance and English. My students have been as young as 5. I have founded and operated my own foreign language education business. I am a Fulbright Scholar to Germany (2014-2015). I am skilled at tutoring 1:1 and also teaching courses of 20+ students. I am an instructor for Concord Community Education and also teach specifically German at a number of local institutions.

Hobbies
I love people, traveling, dancing, reading, gardening, music, and hosting tea parties. I've been to 20+ countries and nearly all the 50 states. I play piano and viola, and sing. I dance lindy hop, charleston, and balboa. I have my own library of 600+ books and a porch full of purple petunias among other flowers. I enjoy hostessing in all forms, writing cards, reading etiquette books, and pretending I'm a character from Downton Abbey. ;-) My perfect day ends with sitting with my husband in our respective armchairs, reading together while sipping earl grey tea.
